About the Gupta Laboratory of Chemical Biology

The Gupta Laboratory of Chemical Biology is located on the 6th floor of the Batchelor Building in the Medical School Campus of the University of Miami. The laboratory is part of the newly established Miami Institute of Renl Medicine (MIRM) within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. We are also a member of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Congratulations to Ellora Sarkar on being selected as the ONLY Regional Finalist for the Siemens Competition from the State of Florida.

Ellora is a Senior at Palmetto High School and the tile of her Project was "Develoment of Low Cost, Rapid Zinc-Finger Based Assay for the Multiplex Diagnostics of M. tuberculosis" and the work was partly funded by a Grand Challenges Explorations Grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Gupta Lab wins the prestigious Grand Challenges Explorations Grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Development of Novel Assays for Low-Cost, Rapid, Multiplexed Detection of TB. For details, click here. The lab is currently working on developing such assays that can be implemented in the setting of exisiting platforms.
